Hari ini Rabu, 13 Juni 2012 pukul 11.15 Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono mengumumkan dr. Nafsiah Mboi, SpA, MPH sebagai Menteri Kesehatan 2012-2014 menggantikan Almarhumah dr. Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, Dr.PH.
On Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 at 11:15, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono announced Dr. Nafsiah Mboi, SpA, MPH as the Minister of Health for the period 2012 – 2014 to replace the late Dr. Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, Dr.PH.
dr. Nafsiah Mboi, Sp.A, MPH adalah dokter spesialis anak yang juga ahli Kesehatan Masyarakat yang telah mengenyam pendidikan di Indonesia, Eropa dan Amerika. Beliau memiliki pengalaman karir panjang sebagai Pegawai Negeri di Departemen Kesehatan (1964-1998), sebagai anggota DPR (1992-1997), dan Pegawai Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (1999-2002) tepatnya sewaktu menjabat sebagai Direktur Department of Gender and Women’s Health pada World Health Organization Pusat di Geneva, Swiss.
Dr. Nafsiah Mboi, SpA, MPH is a pediatrician as well as a Public Health expert, and has studied in Indonesia, Europe and America. She has had varied and considerable experiences as a civil servant in the Department of Health (1964-1998); as a member of the House of Representatives (1992-1997), and an official of the United Nations (1999-2002) when she served as Director of the Department of Gender and Women’s Health, World Health Organization Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland.
dr. Nafsiah Mboi, Sp.A, MPH lahir di Sengkang, Sulawesi Selatan, 14 Juli 1940 adalah lulusan Spesialisasi Dokter Anak Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia, tahun 1971. Gelar Master of Public Health diperoleh di Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium, tahun 1990. Beberapa penghargaan yang pernah diperolehnya diantaranya Ramon Magsaysay Foundation Award for Government Service dari Ramon Magsaysay Foundation, Manila, Philippines (1986), Satya Lencana Bhakti Sosial dari Presiden Republik Indonesia (1989), Fellow of the Australia-Indonesia Institute (1993), Penghargaan dari Asia HRD Congress (2008) dan Penghargaan Soetomo Tjokronegoro yang diberikan oleh PB-IDI (2009).
Dr. Nafsiah Mboi, SpA, MPH was born in Sengkang, South Sulawesi on July 14, 1940 and specialized as a paediatrician upon graduating from the Paediatric Course at University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine in 1971. She obtained her Master of Public Health degree from Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium, 1990. Some of the awards and achievements to her credit include the Ramon Magsaysay Foundation Award for Government Service from the Ramon Magsaysay Foundation, Manila, Philippines (1986); ‘Satya Lencana Bhakti Sosial’ award presented by the President of the Republic of Indonesia (1989); Fellow of the Australia-Indonesia Institute (1993); Asia HRD Congress Award (2008) and Soetomo Tjokronogoro Award presented by PB-IDI (2009).
dr. Nafsiah Mboi, Sp.A, MPH menikah dengan Brigjen purn Dr. Ben Mboi MPH, mantan Gubernur NTT dan dikaruniai 3 orang putra-putri dan 5 orang cucu. Dr. Nafsiah memulai karirnya di Departemen Kesehatan sejak tahun 1964. Beberapa jabatan yang pernah diembannya selama menjadi karyawan Departemen Kesehatan adalah sebagai Kepala Rumah Sakit Umum, Ende, Flores (1964–1968), Kepala Seksi Perijinan pada Kantor Wilayah Departemen Kesehatan Prop. NTT, Kupang (1979–1980), Kepala Bidang Bimbingan dan Pengendalian Pelayanan Kesehatan Masyarakat (BPPKM) pada Kantor Wilayah Departemen Kesehatan Prop. NTT, Kupang (1980–1985).
Dr. Nafsiah Mboi, SpA, MPH is married to Brigadier General (Ret) Dr. Ben Mboi MPH, the former Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and is blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Dr. Nafsiah began her career at the Department of Health in 1964. Some of the posts in which she served as a civil servant in the Department of Health were as Chief of the General Hospital, Ende, Flores (1964 – 1968); Section Head for Licensing at the Department of Health Regional Office, NTT province, Kupang (1979 -1980); Head of Guidance and Control for Health Care of Society (BPPKM) at the Department of Health Regional Office, NTT province, Kupang (1980-1985).
Selain jabatan karir, Dr. Nafsiah pernah menjadi Anggota DPR/ MPR RI (1992–1997), Ketua Komite PBB untuk Hak-hak Anak (1997–1999), Direktur Department of Gender and Women’s Health, WHO, Geneva Switzerland (1999-2002) dan Sekretaris Komisi Penanggulangan AIDS Nasional (2006–sekarang).
In addition to career positions, Dr. Nafsiah was a member of the Indonesian parliament (1992 -1997), Chair of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (1997-1999), Director of the Department of Gender and Women’s Health, WHO, Geneva, Switzerland (1999 – 2002) and Secretary of the National AIDS Prevention Commission (2006 – present).
Lebih dari 70 karya dalam Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris telah dipublikasikan, 20 diantaranya adalah makalah dan artikel.
She has published more than 70 writings in the Indonesian and English languages, of which 20 comprise of papers and articles.
dr. Nafsiah dikenal sebagai sukarelawan dan pekerja masyarakat sejak masih berstatus sebagai pelajar. Selain itu, beliau juga dikenal sebagai aktivis bidang keluarga berencana dan selanjutnya mendedikasikan diri untuk upaya penanggulangan HIV dan AIDS di Indonesia. Komitmennya untuk anti diskriminasi dan kesetaraan dalam masyarakat mengarahkan dr. Nafsiah menjadi aktivis untuk hak-hak azasi manusia, dan menjadi salah satu pendiri Komisi Nasional Perlindungan Anak Indonesia, anggota Komnas HAM, dan Wakil Ketua Komnas Perempuan.
Dr. Nafsiah has been known to be a volunteer and community worker ever since her student days. In addition, she is also known as an activist with regards to family planning and has dedicated her efforts to the prevention of the spread of HIV and AIDS in Indonesia. Her commitment towards anti-discrimination and equality in society has resulted in Dr. Nafsiah being a campaigner for human rights, and she is one of the founders of the National Commission for Child Protection. In addition she is a member of the National Human Rights Commission and Deputy Chair of the National Commission for Women.
Beliau telah terlibat dalam kegiatan-kegiatan yang menitik beratkan pada pemberdayaan perempuan, kesetaraan gender, dan hak-hak anak, semua area tersebut dimulai saat memimpin PKK, BK3S, dan organisasi lain, selama 10 tahun bekerja di Nusa Tenggara Timur (1978-1988) saat suaminya menjabat sebagai Gubernur.
She has been involved in activities focused on women’s empowerment, gender equality, and rights of children. All these activities began when she led the PKK, BK3S, and other organizations for 10 years working in East Nusa Tenggara (1978-1988) while her husband served as governor.
